[How we work](https://cyanorbit.com/process)

A hotel group, vacation rental operator, or tour company usually runs on more separate systems than anyone admits out loud: a property management system for reservations and folios, a channel manager pushing rates to a handful of online travel agencies, a booking engine on the brand's own website, and sometimes a global distribution system feeding travel agents and corporate booking tools. Travel and hospitality software development is mostly the work of making those systems agree with each other in real time, because the moment they drift apart, a room sells twice or a rate advertised on one channel doesn't match another.

We build and integrate with the property management systems these businesses already run, Opera Cloud, Mews, and Cloudbeds among them, so a reservation made through a booking engine, an OTA, or a phone call at the front desk lands in the same folio and the same housekeeping queue. Channel manager connections push availability and rate changes out to every distribution channel on a schedule tight enough that a sold-out weekend doesn't sit open on a partner site for another hour.

Card-on-file for no-show fees and incidentals gets tokenized at the point of capture rather than stored as raw card data, which keeps most of the property's own systems out of PCI DSS scope instead of adding it to every server that touches a reservation.

The problem

## Where travel & hospitality software gets hard

- ### Rate parity breaks the moment one channel lags
A channel manager sync that runs on a fifteen-minute delay is fast enough most days and disastrous the one day a property sells out mid-morning, when Booking.com or Expedia still shows availability that no longer exists.
- ### Front desk operations depend on PMS integration that actually holds up
Opera Cloud, Mews, and Cloudbeds each expose reservations, folios, and housekeeping status through different APIs with different rate limits, so a feature that reads clean in a sandbox can still choke against a property's live, fully booked calendar.
- ### Card-on-file is a liability if it isn't tokenized
Hotels routinely hold a guest's card for incidentals and no-show charges long after check-in, and storing that data directly rather than as a token turns every server that touches a reservation into something a PCI DSS assessor has to examine.
- ### GDS connectivity is a separate integration from OTA APIs
A property reachable through Booking.com and Expedia is not automatically reachable through Sabre, Amadeus, or Travelport, and corporate and travel-agent bookings that rely on a GDS need their own certification and mapping work.
- ### Multi-property portfolios need local autonomy and central visibility at once
A general manager needs to run their property's day-to-day operations without waiting on head office, while ownership still needs occupancy, ADR, and RevPAR rolled up across every property in one place.
- ### Dynamic pricing tools need clean data to be worth using
Revenue management systems can only price a room correctly if occupancy, competitor rates, and booking pace feed them accurately and often, which depends on the same PMS and channel manager integrations breaking down elsewhere in the stack.

What we build

## Travel & Hospitality systems we build

- ### PMS integration with Opera Cloud, Mews, and Cloudbeds
Reservations, folios, and housekeeping status stay in sync between the property management system and every guest-facing and staff-facing tool built around it, instead of the PMS becoming one more disconnected system of record.
- ### Channel manager connections that push rate and inventory changes fast
Availability and rate updates propagate to OTAs, the direct booking engine, and GDS connections on a schedule tight enough to hold rate parity, with alerts when a channel falls out of sync instead of a silent overbooking.
- ### Direct booking engines
A booking flow on the property's own site that reads live availability from the PMS, cutting reliance on OTA commission for guests who would rather book directly if the experience is as easy as the alternative.
- ### GDS connectivity for corporate and travel-agent bookings
Certified connections into Sabre, Amadeus, or Travelport open a property up to corporate travel programs and agent bookings that never touch a consumer OTA.
- ### Guest mobile apps and digital check-in
Mobile check-in, digital room keys, and concierge messaging that reduce front desk lines without removing the option for a guest who would rather talk to a person.
- ### Tokenized payment capture for card-on-file
Guest cards get tokenized at capture through the payment processor rather than stored on property systems, reducing how much of the PMS and booking stack falls inside PCI DSS scope.
- ### Revenue management dashboards
Occupancy, ADR, RevPAR, and booking pace pulled from the PMS and channel manager into one view, feeding the pricing decisions a revenue manager makes daily rather than once a quarter.
- ### Tour and activity booking platforms
Tour operators and activity providers get their own booking and capacity management system, built to the same rate-and-inventory-sync standard as a hotel's channel manager rather than a generic appointment scheduler.

## Regulations and standards we design for

- PCI DSS requirements for any system that captures, transmits, or stores guest card data, including card-on-file for incidentals and no-shows.
- GDPR and UK GDPR for properties and booking platforms serving guests based in the EU and UK, covering booking data, marketing consent, and retention periods.
- CCPA and CPRA for platforms handling personal information belonging to California residents, including guest profiles built up across repeat stays.
- Australian Privacy Act 1988 for guest data collected through a booking engine or loyalty program serving Australian travelers.
- UAE PDPL and Saudi PDPL for properties and platforms processing guest data in the Middle East, layered on top of PCI DSS for payment handling.
- WCAG 2.2 accessibility standards for public-facing booking engines, since an inaccessible booking flow turns away guests before a reservation is even attempted.

## Platforms we integrate with

- Oracle Hospitality Opera Cloud
- Mews
- Cloudbeds
- SiteMinder channel manager
- Sabre, Amadeus, and Travelport GDS connections
- Booking.com and Expedia partner APIs
- Stripe and Adyen for tokenized payment capture

## Holding rate parity across a channel manager and a GDS

Most rate parity failures trace back to the same cause: two systems that each believe they hold the current truth about a room's availability. A channel manager pushing updates to OTAs on a batch schedule and a GDS connection updating on its own cycle will eventually disagree, usually on the one night a property sells out.

We build the PMS as the single source of truth and push every rate and inventory change out from there, with webhook-based updates to the channel manager and GDS connection rather than a polling job that checks in every few minutes. When a channel does fall out of sync, whether from an API outage on their end or a rate limit hit, the system flags it instead of quietly leaving stale availability live.

- Webhook-based rate and inventory push instead of scheduled polling
- Automatic alerts when a channel manager or GDS connection falls out of sync
- PMS treated as the single source of truth for every distribution channel

## PCI DSS scope reduction for card-on-file

Storing a guest's card directly, even encrypted, keeps every server and backup that touches it inside PCI DSS scope. Tokenizing the card at the point of capture, through the payment processor rather than the property's own database, means the token can sit in the reservation record while the actual card data never touches property systems at all.

This matters most for no-show and incidental charges, which happen well after the original booking and would otherwise require the property to hold a live card number in storage for days or weeks.

## GDS certification is its own project, separate from OTA integration

A property that already syncs cleanly with Booking.com and Expedia through a channel manager still needs a distinct connection and certification process to reach Sabre, Amadeus, or Travelport, since a GDS speaks a different message format built around travel-agent and corporate booking tools rather than consumer web bookings. We scope this as its own integration phase rather than assuming OTA connectivity covers it.

FAQ

## Travel & Hospitality software FAQs

How long does it take to integrate a channel manager with our PMS?

A single PMS-to-channel-manager integration, covering rate and inventory sync to a handful of OTAs, typically runs six to ten weeks. Timeline grows with the number of distribution channels, whether GDS connectivity is in scope, and how much historical reservation data needs to migrate.

Can you integrate with Opera Cloud if we run Oracle Hospitality?

Yes. Opera Cloud exposes reservations, folios, and rate data through Oracle's own API, and we build against that directly rather than screen-scraping the interface. Certification requirements and rate limits vary by property type, which we scope during discovery.

Do OTA integrations require separate work from GDS connectivity?

Yes. Booking.com, Expedia, and similar OTAs connect through a channel manager, while Sabre, Amadeus, and Travelport GDS connections use a different message format aimed at travel agents and corporate booking tools. A property reachable through one is not automatically reachable through the other.

How do you handle PCI DSS for storing a guest's card on file?

Card data gets tokenized at capture through the payment processor, so the property's own systems store a token rather than the card number itself. This keeps most of the reservation and PMS stack out of PCI DSS scope, since the raw card data never reaches those servers.

Can a direct booking engine actually reduce our OTA commission costs?

It can, but only if the booking experience is at least as easy as the OTA's, since guests default to whichever option feels safest and fastest. A booking engine that reads live availability from the PMS and matches OTA pricing removes the main reasons a guest would book elsewhere.

What causes overbooking across multiple booking channels?

Overbooking almost always comes down to a sync delay between the PMS and one distribution channel, whether that is a channel manager pushing updates on a slow schedule or a GDS connection running its own separate cycle. Real-time, webhook-based sync closes that gap rather than relying on periodic polling.
